Georgina Bromilow
Widely acknowledged as the finest female lead trumpet player in the country, Georgina Bromilow first came to prominence with the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra. She then went on to play lead trumpet with the Andy Prior Orchestra on the highly acclaimed nationwide ‘Magic of Sinatra’ tour. Since then Georgina has played lead trumpet on the worldwide tour of the musical ‘ Chicago ’, the west-end productions of ‘The Genius of Ray Charles’ and ‘The Ratpack’. She has also played for Nancy Sinatra, George Benson and many of the finest big bands in the country, along with many T.V appearances and recording sessions.
Over the last eight years Georgina has been making a name for herself with the Georgina Bromilow Big Band. Featuring classic tunes from big bands from Harry James and Ray Anthony to Woody Herman, she has also compiled a book of unique arrangements which feature her swinging vocals alongside her stratospheric trumpet playing; these are featured on her C.D “till there was you”. The Georgina Bromilow Big band features some of the countries finest big band players in the country and has a distinctive energy and exuberance which has been fostered by the musical familiarity of working together for many years.
Georgina was described on the ITV show ‘This is My Moment’ as being ‘a very sexy Doris Day’ and has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour on which she performed and discussed the unusual situation of being a female big band leader!
